Shay
A warrior born to a clan of powerful warriors who bond their spirits to a powerful spiritual creature. When her clan is attacked, she and her companion must set off to find a lost artifact that will restore honor to her Clan before it is too late.
Vhu
Shay's Spirit Beast companion. He can be as small as a squirrel, or as big as a grizzly bear. He can not speak out loud, but he is highly capable of mental telepathy, though he only uses this with Shay.
Shay is the Clanleader's daughter, from a clan of strong fighters and warriors who live in harmony with the forest and the Spirit Clan of the area. The Spirit Beasts were in danger of vanishing forever as the world started to lose its magic, so the humans and Beasts made a pact - The humans would provide the Spirit Beasts with an anchor which stopped them from fading away; their mortal bodies, and a deep soul-bond that would last a life time. In return, the human gained a much, much longer life, increased strength, and powers over the forest the Spirit Beasts call home. These spirit beasts come in many shapes and sizes, in the forms of many animals.
Vhu is particularly powerful, being the Spirit Clanleader's Son. Of course, on birth he is bonded to Shay; the Human Clanleader's daughter.
There is a problem, though. Over the generations, the Spirit Beasts have been fading away - as if their bond with the humans is weakening. It all started with the theft of a powerful and magical amulet. Shay and Vhu, determined to save both of their clans, go off on a journey to find this Amulet, restore the honor to the Clans, and restore that magical bond to both Humanclan and Spiritclan alike.
Story is still under developement, but I really like this duo.
Shay is very motherly when you get to know her, forward and strong. She is not shy, in the least, but is often quite polite. She never beats around the bush. Because of the stolen amulet, she can not get far from Vhu without both of them experiencing pain and getting weak. Shay has a heart of gold, and is filled with honor and integrity.
The two symbols on Vhu's shoulder are his clan's symbol and Shay's clan's symbol. These symbols signify their bond.
Vhu is able to shapeshift at will. When he needs to be small and out of the way, he becomes as small as a squirrel, and perches on Shay's shoulder. When they need to move quickly, he can become large enough for her to ride, and when they need to fight, he can become as large as a bear. He can also modify his body to suit their needs. He can morph his paws into hands if needed. He is incapable of speaking out loud, but he is fully sentient, and communicates with mental speech to Shay.
